Who you are in Christ

Setting our Foundations

Are we benefiting from what Jesus has done for us when we read through the bible and the finished work of Jesus, we realise that it is the power of Christ, and it brings the fulness of grace.

Romans 14:17 (NIV)

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteous and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

1st Cor 3:10+11(NIV)

By the grace God Has given me, I laid a foundation as an ex pert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

It’s important that we understand righteousness because this is through Jesus. Our foundation is Jesus. It is a gift.

Mathew 7: 24-27 (NIV)

24: Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock

25: The rain came down the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

26: but everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

27: the rain came down, the streams rose the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.

When challenges come and they will how do you stand this is where we need to have a sure foundation are you stood on a rock or sinking in the sand, if we have built our house Our Temple on a rock = the Gospel it will stand when the storms come if its on the sand = self -effort it will fall and great will be our fall is our foundation built on sand or rock.

When we start to flap in a challenge then we have not given it over to Jesus (Matt c6) says to cast ALL your cares.

There can also be a lack of trust and we can think that Father is not doing anything, but He is always at work, and we must stand on His word till the answer comes.

Are you using the word in your battles or is it your own self effort i.e., the Lord will bless me because I have been good is this how you talk to Him, or do you have a conversation with Him about your everyday stuff?

Are you in or have you got a lot of self-condemnation?

Testimony re business

When we accept that Jesus is the only one who is perfect and that He gave his life for you, and He loved you while you were full of sin and that we will not be perfect this side of heaven, yet He still loves us.

Somehow there are or can be times where we talk to Him that it is self-effort and the gospel so it can be religious instead of relationship.

When we say Thank you, Lord, for blessing me this is recognising that the finished work of Jesus is done and even though we do not deserve anything Jesus has given us all that we need. We cannot earn it and the Gospel of Jesus will restore us.

Paul says in Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

When we have a true revelation of Jesus and what He has done for us He has made us righteous alongside Him Amen.

It also includes spiritual mental and physical restoration the gospel of Jesus will restore you. And you can receive all of this through believing Gods word and standing on it and seeking revelation through believing. We can learn to persevere and keep standing on the word. Amen.

It has been given as a gift to us through grace. Some Christians believe you must earn this that is religious which is about self and not about what Jesus has already done for us. When you do not pray for yourself, you may not believe you are righteous this is self-condemnation, and you may feel you are not good enough with the result that you perhaps feel pressurised to earn it.

Righteousness is a gift from God although sometimes we can feel under pressure to perform. Enough is enough God anointed you when He called you and we try to earn what has been given as a gift. God loves you unconditionally we cannot earn anything it’s all been done for us and the only pressure to perform is coming from you or perhaps others. Having confidence in who you already are in Him is the way forward and all we must do is receive these gifts graciously. Receive His righteousness through His Grace. When you recognise who you really are in Him this will cause you to rule over sin sickness, lack, depression, family issues etc.

Romans 5:16-18

And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgement which came from many offenses resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.

17: For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one Jesus Christ

18 therefore as through one man’s offense judgement came to all men resulting in condemnation, even so through one man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men resulting in justification of life.

For as through one man’s disobedience many were made sinners so also by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Greater is God’s grace and the gift of righteousness. We see in these scriptures that many became sinners because of Adam and many became righteous because of what Jesus did. God’s Grace produces this it allows power for results. It also produces salvation.

What did you do to become a sinner?

2Cor 5 :21(NIV)

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteous of God.

Jesus was the sin sacrifice.

Our character our health and our wellbeing are through Jesus Christ and what He has done for us nothing else.

Receive the abundance of His grace, favour, and His righteousness.

Romans 1 :16-17 (NIV)

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written “the just shall live by faith”

Some Christians base their maturity in years however when you for instance lose your temper or have road rage you do not understand your righteousness, we need to mature.

Testimony

Hebrews 5:12 (NIV)

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again.  You need milk not solid food!  3: Anyone who still lives on milk is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14:  But solid food is reserved for the mature who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Be mature in understanding the gospel you can read but not understand you are limited without Jesus.

The law and your flesh need to leave your house / temple

2nd Cor 9:8(NIV)

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. V 9 As it is written.
